“But you don’t look autistic!”
Adults with autism are perceived to be awkward, rude or unapproachable. Yet, they are the most genuine, kind-hearted and well-intentioned people. How do I know? Well, I’m autistic and when I received my diagnosis at 25, it all finally made sense. Often misunderstood, I found it hard to connect socially with friends and family.
Were it not for a loving and supporting family, solid education and strong church community, I don’t think I would be where I am today. My heart goes out to those with more severe cases of autism who struggle on a daily basis navigating adulthood.
This is why I started Kipekee (unique in Swahili) to empower adults like myself to live their best lives.
Offering a Kipekee solution for Kipekee people!
